Shawn Branstetter wrote an article on constructing a small bridge – Small Wooden Bridge – A One Night Project.
Shawn’s little bridge only spanned a short distance. I needed to span a greater distance but I liked his design. I therefore used his design as the starting point for my bridge project and I went a little crazy. The stringers for his bridge are 8”x18” timbers; his ties are 8”x8” and his Guard timber is 6”x6”. Since his bridge was standard gauge and mine would be for a “very” narrow gauge I had some leeway. Heck, I’m not expecting a bridge engineer anytime soon, so away we go. And so begins my article I wrote for The Shortline Modelers Lounge. Sit back and click the link .. |
